Police in Uasin Gishu have arrested three more suspects believed to have colluded in the disposal of the body of LGBTQ Activist Edwin Kiptoo Chiloba.
County Criminal Investigation Officer (CCIO) Peter Kimulwo said the three who are related to the 24-year-old prime suspect, Jacktone Odhiambo, assisted in carrying the metal box that ferried Chiloba's lifeless body to the car.
He said that three suspects who are between the ages of 17 and 19 are helping police in further investigations.
"The three assisted the main suspect in carrying the box, moving it from the scene and loading it onto a white Toyota Fielder (KCL 229L). The vehicle is detained at Langas Police Station," said the CCIO.
Mr Kimulwo said that the four suspects will be arraigned in court on today as police file a miscellaneous application seeking 14 more days to continue holding the suspects as investigations continue.
"We will not be able to conduct a postmortem tomorrow since we are liaising with the government pathologist in Nairobi so that he will be present during the autopsy. We will have the postmortem at another date, which we will let you know," added the officer.
He said that the taxi driver who drove off the body and dropped it at the Kipkenyo area in Kapseret is still at large.
"The vehicle used during the incident has been recovered and is at the police station. The vehicle is a taxi car that has been operating within the Langas area in Eldoret," added the CCIO.
Mr Kimulwo has also dismissed reports that Odhiambo, a freelance photographer, had confessed to killing the Chilopba in a love gone sour incident.
"We cannot disclose any more information because it is part of our investigations. We believe we are dealing with the right people who perpetrated the heinous act and any more details will be presented in court when the right time comes," stated the CCIO.
Chiloba, a fourth year student at the University of Eldoret was pursuing a degree course in Apparel Fashion and design.
His decomposing body was found stashed in a metal box on the roadside along the Kipkenyo-Kaptinga road within Kapseret sub-County in Uasin Gishu County on January 3.
Chiloba's adoptive parents Peter Pfaltzgraff and his wife Donna have said that his death is a big blow, as they loved him.
"Our hearts are broken. Will give more details when we can share more. Please pray for us," Donna said on her social media platform.
