Naftali Kinuthia 28, a suspect in the murder of Moi University sixth-year medical student Ivy Wangeci denied the charges leveled against him at a high court in Eldoret on Tuesday.
Kinuthia, a computer science graduate is accused of hacking Ivy who was laid to rest on April 18 at the family’s rural home in Mahiga, Nyeri County.
He allegedly attacked and hit her head with an axe on April 9 outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital before attempting to escape from the scene.
Irate motorbike caught up with him and pelted him with stones before he was rescued by police officers and rushed to hospital for treatment.
The two are said to have studied at Joyland academy before separating at high school but kept in touch.

She was described by her students as a shining star who excelled in her studies and was looking up to her graduation by the end of the year.
The case will be mentioned on May 9, 2019 and the hearing is scheduled to take place on May 10.
