President William Ruto will chair a high-level meeting on conference of African Heads of State on climate crisis (CAHOSCC) during his trip to the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

CAHOSCC, is responsible for coordinating Africa's common position on climate change.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ruto will chair the meeting in his capacity as a coordinator, while also meeting with other international leaders to form cooperation on priority areas of interest.

"The president will also seize the opportunity to engage other select world leaders on priority areas of bilateral relations," the ministry said on Tuesday.

UNGA convened on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in New York, USA, with the high-level debate taking place from September 20 to Monday, September 27.

Ruto is scheduled to arrive in New York this evening and is expected to make his debut address to the assembly.

He travels from London, where he attended Queen Elizabeth II's funeral on Monday.

This year's theme "A watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges", acknowledges the shared roots of crises such as COVID-19, climate change and conflict-and the need for solutions that build global sustainability and resilience.
