Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu was Wednesday elected unopposed as the Supreme Court representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The Supreme Court judges settled for the DCJ who will in turn replace Justice Smokin Wanjala whose term came to an end last year.
The DCJ will serve as member of the Commission for five years.
Initially, there was a tussle over who should be elected, with three judges having declared their interest.
There were concerns within the commission that failure to have a representative from the Supreme Court will hamper the commission’s readiness to deal with election petitions, especially a presidential one if it arises.
