Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi are set for a major showdown at the Coast this weekend.
The climax of their Coast campaign tours will end with major rallies in separate venues in Mombasa on Sunday.
Raila is expected to arrive in Mombasa on Saturday and travel to Malindi on a peace caravan with his supporters.
After making stopovers in Kilifi, Watamu and Malindi towns, the campaign tour will end with a grand rally on Sunday at the Caltex grounds in Likoni, Mombasa.
“Mombasa is an ODM zone and will remain to be so. We want to show that ODM is strong. That is why we are calling for peace and we are against any violence,” said Mombasa County ODM Chairman Ramadhan Kajembe.
“We want a peaceful election. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission should put in place mechanisms to ensure the winner goes to State House,” Kajembe added.
And Mr Mudavadi’s private secretary, Kibisu Kabatesi, said the DPM would arrive in Mombasa tomorrow on a three-day tour of the region.
In a media brief, Kabatesi said Mudavadi would wind up the tour by addressing a UDF rally at Tononoka grounds on Sunday.
“During the tour, Mudavadi will be accompanied by more than 30 MPs from different political parties sympathetic to UDF,” said the statement.
