The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has banned Diamond’s Tetema song and Sailors’ Wamlambez from being sung outside clubs and bars.
According to the KFCB boss, the decision was informed by the fact that “both the songs are pure pornography despite the fact that their lyrics are coded.”
The song Tetema has been used recently by a section of Kenyan leaders in some events, a matter that he condemned as embarrassing.
“It's embarrassing to see even national leaders singing and dancing to the obscenity in public.
“The lyrics are dirty and not suitable for public consumption, especially children,” the KFCB boss posted on his Twitter handle.
“It’s important for the public to know that they are dirty and unsuitable for mixed company. Let them be restricted to clubs, for adults only!” he added.
In April this year, Mutua also banned ‘Takataka’ a song by Alvin aka Alvindo.
The KFCB CEO described the song as obscene with degrading lyrics that advocate for violence against women by equating them to trash.
“Moving forward, the song should not be performed live or broadcast anywhere within the Republic of Kenya.
“No DJ should play the song either on broadcast station or in entertainment joints," read the statement in part,” said Mutua.
