Kisumu Lakeside will be seeking to register their fifth win of the 2021 Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League season when they welcome KCA University at Manyatta Arabs Primary School in Kisumu.

Lakeside has won four matches in the 11 games played so far that leaves them ninth in the log with 15 points, 16 points behind leaders Ulinzi Warriors.

The wins came against champions Ulinzi, KCA University, Blades and Kenyatta University while losing against KPA, Thunder, Eldonets, Equity, University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University.

Speaking to Standard Sports, Lakeside point guard Sila Awuor said they have not yet given up on their top-four finish target.

“The team is still focused on a top 4 finish at the end of the regular season. The strategy is to win all the remaining home games (4), and grab at least two of the five remaining away games.”

“Making the playoffs as a top-seeded team so that we have home-court advantage remains our top priority. So we are still striving to be top four. The playoffs run should be at least up to the semis, since last year we got to the quarters,” said Awuor.

Despite two of their key players in Trevor Gari and Sila Guya doubtful for the weekend due to illness, Awuor believes they have what it takes to edge KCA.

Elsewhere, KPA will host Blades in Mombasa in another match as Eldonets entertain Terror.
