There is no denying that a tractor is one of the most important farmer’s tool for production. From land preparation to planting and hauling loads, the uses are endless.
And when it comes to choice, farmers will always go for tractors that will maximise return on investment given the fact that owning one is a huge investment. And for this reason, Massey Ferguson has over the years developed its tractors to meet the ever changing needs of the farmer engineering and appropriate technology are the benefits of new set of tractors that will put smile on the farmers face.
Not only have they come up with new tractors that are more fuel efficient and easier to use but also address the needs of the farmer bringing improved mechanisation to the Kenyan farmer. Features that once only appeared on high-horsepower models are now offered on smaller tractors. FMD is thus set to launch a series of new generation of tractors, which include MF 35, MF 4708 and hi-tech MF 7620 on July 9, at Rift Valley Trust Farm.
The MF 35, dubbed ‘the peoples tractor’ is a modernised version of the MF35, whose heritage can be traced back to 1957 and has been upgraded to fit today’s youthful farmer.
And it is not only the upgrade that will captivate the targeted group of young emerging farmers within the age bracket of 25-45. The price is also pocket-friendly.
“The 36Hp MF 35 is quality tractor that comes with an advantageous price of Sh1.4 million,” says FMD East Africa MD Fergus Roble. The MF 35 will be launched with a full financial package, which will allow farmers to go home with as low as a deposit of 20 per cent.
This will be a boost to the youth who have of late been venturing into farming in droves, thus helping in curbing youth unemployment and at the same time helping the country move closer to its vision 2030 pillar of food security.
“The tractor is all about durability, low cost maintenance and is offered with implements developed locally by Ndume Limited,” adds Roble.
The agricultural machinery company based in Nakuru will also be launching MF 4708 tractor-a brand new tractor, which was built from scratch basing on specifications suggested by farmers in a research conducted in select African countries, Kenya included.
The MF 4708, is a great looking tractor with traditional Massey Ferguson proven performance, reliability and easy to operate. The 82hp Agco has a great engine power and fuel efficiency and is an exceptionally good value in the class of 80-90Hp. In coming up with this latest addition, Roble says, Massey Ferguson invested heavily in improvements to the engine and performance to ensure the farmer’s costs remain low.
