Police in Nandi are investigating the mysterious killing of a 24-year-old nurse weeks after he graduated from Meru University.

The body of Elvis Kipkemei was found in his house, a few metres from his parents’ home.

According to the family members, the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood, with visible injuries on his head and face.

Geoffrey Kemboi, the deceased’s cousin, claimed Kipkemei could have been killed elsewhere, and the body sneaked into his house on Friday night before relatives stumbled upon it on Saturday evening.

“Kipkemei was conspicuously missing after he left home on Friday morning, but he never returned as usual. His phone, but when I went to check on him in his house, I stumbled upon his body,” said Kemboi.

A day before the incident, Kemboi said unknown people on board a Toyota Probox were traversing the village and one of them went home and asked for Kipkemei’s whereabouts.

“No one recognised them, but they left when they didn’t find him. We suspect that they must be behind the death of my cousin,” said Kemboi.

At the scene of crime were used gloves, a syringe, pesticide and some of Kipkemei’s clothes. The academic papers he recently got from school were missing.

Nandi Central police boss Doris Chemoss said DCI officers are piecing together the details to identify the murder suspects.
