Six candidates are set to face off in the contest to occupy the County Assembly Speaker position.
The post fell vacant following appointment of immediate former speaker Shadrack Rotich as the deputy governor.
Among those eying the position are former Bomet senator Wilfred Lesan and acting speaker Wesley Kiprotich.
Bomet Youth Bunge President Morgan Cheruiyot, former senate aspirant Raymond Kigen and Nairobi based lawyer Nelson Mutai are also in the race.
The position has been vacant for the past year with the Assembly Clerk Isaac Kitur attributing the delay in filling it to the coronavirus pandemic.
"The number of MCAs attending sittings has reduced to 15 as per Ministry of Health protocols; this has affected business," he said.
