CORD tells President Uhuru Kenyatta to 'unfix' DP William Ruto in the ICC case

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) luminaries have turned the heat on the Jubilee coalition with what they termed as counter-prayer rallies.

At a political rally held at Kamukunji grounds in Kibra, the Opposition maintained it is only President Uhuru Kenyatta and his allies who can 'unfix' Deputy President William Ruto from The Hague-based court.

Shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered his scorecard speech at Nyayo National Stadium yesterday, the CORD leaders declared for Mr Ruto to be free, exhibit 19 and 19A in the National Intelligence Service report must be recanted.

And to do that, they said Uhuru should order the same to be recanted by those already adversely mentioned and have confessed to have 'fixed' Ruto.

Senators James Orengo (Siaya), Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), Hassan Omar (Mombasa), Elizabeth Ongoro (nominated) and MPs Jakoyo Midiwo (Gem), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North), Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) and Opiyo Wandayi among others challenged the Head of State to ensure those who killed ODM supporters are brought to book.

"Every statement Jubilee makes will be countered by truth and facts about the post-election violence. We know that every witness against Ruto was from PNU," said Mr Orengo.

He accused Jubilee of throwing mud at the ICC yet the Government has done very little to bring to book the perpetrators of the violence.

The leaders also told Raila not to testify for Ruto at The Hague if President Uhuru will not order Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, former Internal Security PS Mutea Iringo, Presidential Advisor Nancy Gitau and former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Michael Gichangi to recant the evidence at the ICC.

"Raila should not testify. Uhuru should tell Kuria, Mutea, Gitau and Gichangi to go and testify how and why they fixed Ruto," Dr Khalwale.

They said the last elections were premised on the agenda that Raila played a role in taking Ruto to The Hague.
