KENYA: Eagle Coalition presidential candidate Peter Kenneth took his campaigns to Makueni County and called for issue-based campaigns.

And Narc-Kenya’s Martha Karua pitched tent in West Pokot County, and urged Kenyans to reject Jubilee presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto since the ICC has not cleared them.

“The two should have cleared their names because they might be called to appear in court when they are in office, leaving the country with no leader.

Kenya is not a kiosk you will just leave and go to wherever,” Karua said.

In Makueni, Kenneth accompanied by his presidential running mate Ronnie Osumba, addressed meetings in Kibwezi town, Wote Market and Kola.

Plea to voters

Several aspirants on the Kenya National Congress (KNC) ticket also accompanied the Planning Assistant minister.

“This election should be about issues that would benefit the people of this country and not personalised attacks,” he said. Kenneth hit at his competitors, noting they do not have a plan and had just picked his manifesto and replicated it.

In West-Pokot, Karua who graced the home coming of her running mate Augustine Lotodo in Kapenguria, hit out at Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Uhuru for failing to eliminate corruption while they served in President Kibaki’s Government.

She cautioned Kenyans against voting in leaders whose integrity is questionable. “Both the Prime Minister and his deputy failed to eliminate corruption while they served the government.

It is obvious if they are elected, they will not fight corruption,” Karua said. Kenneth has asked voters in Central Kenya to shun tribal politics and focus on national unity and performance of candidates. Speaking during a vernacular radio Station Inooro FM, Kenneth said Kenyans should ignore politics of hatred and tribalism and be free to vote in a leader ready to solve many of the problems facing the 40 million Kenyans.

The KNC presidential hopeful defended himself against claims he was a spoiler out to split the Central Kenya votes.
