Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and former Murang'a governor Mwangi wa Iria. [File, Standard]

President William Ruto, on Friday, November 20, appointed former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and former Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria to spearhead various State roles.

Kenneth has been appointed Chairperson of the National Standards Council for the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), replacing Anthony Muriuki. Meanwhile, Mwangi wa Iria will serve as Chairperson of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.

“These appointments have been made based on the recommendations of the Public Service Commission and in line with the laws governing each public office,” stated the official notice.

Ruto also appointed Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, where he will serve alongside Susan Koech.

Additionally, former Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow has been named Consul-General for the soon-to-be-established Kenyan Consulate in Haiti.

Earlier today, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi announced the government’s plans to open a consulate in Haiti as part of efforts to expand Kenya's global presence.

Other notable appointments include Professor Adams G.R. Oloo as a Strategy and Communication Advisor and Dr. Silvester Okumu as a Governance Advisor to the Office of the President.
