"Notably, we have had smooth holidays including Christmas season that was marked without any incidences and we expect the same now since our officers are on the ground," he assured.

In relation to the World Rally Championships (WRC) in Naivasha, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner (RC) Abdi Hassan said the government has put in place all the necessary measures to avoid any incidents.

Speaking on Thursday Hassan said his security team has operationalised a security plan that will ensure that no ugly incidents are reported during event.

At the same time, Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) has issued alternative routes for motorists traveling from Nairobi to the Western part of the country.

This in a bid to avoid inconveniences brought about by traffic snarl-ups experienced on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway in previous events.

One of the options given was Nairobi through Rironi - Naivasha - Engineer through Olkalau - Oljororok and also terminate at Lanet in Nakuru.
