President William Ruto has arrived at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi County where he will be presiding over this year's Jamhuri day celebrations.
Ruto inspected a presidential guard of honour minutes to 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 12, amidst cheers and chants from an eagerly waiting crowd of over 30,000 people.
In tow was First Lady Rachel Ruto.
The event has been graced by several dignitaries and Heads of State among them Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi and Ethopia's President Sahle-Work Zewde.
Other dignitaries include former Burundi's President Prosper Bazombanza, Zanzibar's First Lady Mariam Mwinyi, and Uganda's Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga.
Kenya's Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Chief Justice Martha Koome, and Attorney General Justin Muturi have also arrived for the National day event among other State officials.
Kenya is marking 60 years since it got its independence, with this being the second Jamhuri Day celebration President Ruto is presiding since he assumed office.
