Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has denied reports that he met foreign envoys on Friday, July 21.

According to Odinga, he has been away from the public eye because he is nursing a flu.

Taking to Twitter to say that the flu is also the reason why he has not made any appearance during the ongoing demonstrations.

"Dear Kenyans, I am currently battling a strong strain of flu, hence keeping off public engagements and all meetings. I have therefore held no meeting with any envoys as reported by some media outlets," read his tweet.

Raila added that representatives from the opposition including National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi and Jeremiah Kioni visited Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who they say has been placed under house arrest.

According to Wandayi, Musyoka has been under house arrest since Tuesday, July 18 and that is why he has not shown up for protests.

Odinga said that demonstrations are controlled by Kenyans who want the government to lower the cost of living and not his party nor colleagues therefore his absence should not affect the turn up.

"I am supporting the protest and so are my colleagues. However, the protests no longer revolve around me, Martha or Azimio. These protests as you have seen are run by Kenyans. I want to everyone that the whole Azimio team is safe and they are spearheading protests in different parts of the country," he said.
