East African Assembly legislator Hassan Omar has urged Kenyans to be patient as the government works to lower cost of living.
He said the government has plans to make Kenyans' lives easy.
"As we are all aware of the suffering of many Kenyan's, the government has strategic plans to reduce the cost of living," Omar said.
Omar was speaking during Eid al-Adha celebrations at Sir Ali Muslim Club in Nairobi on Thursday, where he had joined other Islamic faithfuls in marking the feast of the sacrifice day.
Eid al-Adha is a significant day in the calendar of Islamic religion, celebrated on the final day of annual pilgrimage-Hajj, during which Muslims travel to Mecca city in Saudi Arabia.
Omar called for patience from Kenyans and exuded confidence in the Kenya Kwanza government to deliver on the promises they made to Kenyans.
This comes amidst public uproar over increase in taxes through 2023/2024 new tax laws assented to by President William Ruto on Tuesday.
Azimio Coalition has termed the taxes as punitive and that they exert pressure on the already overburdened citizens.
The Raila Odinga led coalition has vowed to fight the tax increase and has already rallied its troops to push for civil disobedience.
Eid prayers is characterised by slaughtering of animals as a remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim in readiness to sacrifice his son.
"Today we slaughter animals to celebrate this important day of Islamic religions that is marked all over the world," Omar stated.
The legislator urged his fellow Muslims to accommodate and share their fortunes with the less privileged in the society.
On security concerns at the coast, Omar lauded Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale for strides in thwarting terrorist activities.
