As schools across the country reopen for a second term today, President William Ruto has inaugurated Lenana School primary in Ngando, Dagoretti South, Nairobi
On Monday, May 13, the President presided over the opening of the school accompanied by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, and Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja among other officials.
The president further committed to constructing more classrooms in the school to enhance learning and boost performance.
“We will build and equip 24 extra classrooms for Lenana School Primary to serve more students in Dagoretti South. We aim to ensure that all our children access the right learning environment to boost their academic performance,” said Ruto.
The head of state officially opened the 22 classrooms, approximated to accommodate more than 1,500 learners.
As several schools reopen, learners still face the challenges of inadequate classrooms and poor infrastructure occasioned by the floods that ravaged parts of the country as a result of the ongoing rains.
Consequently, the Ministry of Interior assured that the government was monitoring the flood situation in the country to ensure the safe and efficient movement of learners, parents, and teachers amidst the reopening.
