Kenya vaccinates over 240,000 people in last 24 hours

Kenya has vaccinated 242, 772 people in the last 24 hours following the launch of the mass vaccination drive on Thursday, the Health Ministry has said.

So far, the country has administered 13.1 million vaccines and 176,318 booster doses. Only 22.1 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated.

On Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said that one hundred and fifty-eight people have tested positive for the coronavirus from 6,899 samples conducted in the last 24 hours.

Total confirmed cases now stand at 321,922 and 3,247,589 tests conducted since the onset of the disease.

Another forty-six patients have recovered from the disease, “with thirty-seven discharged from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while nine were discharged from various health facilities across the country,” Kagwe said.

Total recoveries now stand at 295,580, while the death toll remains 5,604.

Further, some three hundred and fifty-two patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide. Nine patients are admitted to the ICU and two others are in the HDU.
