Former Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Women's National League champions Kenya Pipeline chalked a straight sets win against Prisons Nairobi in second leg tie played at Nyayo Gymnasium on Saturday.

The victory saw the oilers, who are looking to reclaim their title, make it four wins out of four. On Friday, Pipeline came from behind twice to edge out defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10) to secure their third win of the season. Pipeline, who finished third last season, have proved that they mean business having dismissed bitter rivals Kenya Prisons 3-2 during the first leg.

However, unlike their encounters against Kenya Prisons and KCB which were decided in five-set thrillers, they had it easy with Prisons Nairobi cruising to victory in sets of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-14. Today, Pipeline will face off with Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in a bid to maintain their unbeaten run.

Holders KCB bounced back from a disappointing start to register their first win of the season. They beat Postbank 3-0(24-14, 25-12, 25-16). KCB coach Japheth Munala lauded his charges saying that they continued to show improvement.

"They played very well and continued to show improvement even though we lost to Kenya Pipeline. I believe that they will soon be a force to reckon with,” said Munala.

The bankers will on Sunday battle it out with Kenya Prisons, who they beat last season to lift the trophy. The two sides have lost a match each to Pipeline. Kenya Prisons have had a great outing at Nyayo securing maximum points against Postbank and Maranatha. They beat Postbank 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) and thereafter outclassed Maranatha 3-0 (25-5, 25-12, 25-6).

After falling in straight sets to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Vihiga County overpowered Young Spikers to register their first victory (25-11, 25-11, 25-20). Vihiga lost all their first leg matches played in Nyeri. Winless Young Spikers will be hoping to finally get it right when they take on Lipalikes on Sunday.
