Postal Corporation of Kenya (PSK) and Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development (MOTIHUD) are favourite to clinch the athletics title after registering positive results in the ongoing Kenya Communications Sports Organizations (Kecoso) Games at Kabarak University on Friday.

Athletes of the two teams battled for the three top positions in different races as they kept on exchanging positions to enhance their chances of winning that title.

Renowned middle distance runner Grace Kidake of PSK recorded 5 minutes 32.6 seconds to win the women’s 1500m ahead of the MOTIHUD duo of Mary Kanene and Moreen Muriuki who posted a time of 6:50.3 and 8:03.5 respectively.

“This is tough as we race around but we are determined to come out winners at the end of it,” said Kidake.

MOTIHUD’s duo of Zackins Sonoero and Geoffrey Walea won the men’s 5000m in a competition of teammates.

Sonoero registered 33 minutes 50.8secs ahead of Walea who posted 33:54.2.

Collins Makokha also of MOTIHUD was third after he clocked a time record of 33:59.1.

In the women’s 5000m, it was a clean sweep for MOTIHUD’s trio of Mary Wambui, Naomi Karisa and Rachael Ngina.
