Eldas MP Adan Keynan has called on his political opponents to put aside their differences and join hands with him as he serves the area residents for the next five years after an election petition challenging his win was dismissed by the High Court in Nairobi.
Keynan who is serving his fifth term in parliament making him one of the longest-serving legislators in the country said that the people of Wajir County where he comes from want their leaders to unite to address their challenges for the next five years and were not interested in empty rhetoric.
The Eldas MP said that the area residents would like to see the national and county governments addressing challenges such as drought and lack of basic amenities such as clean water, accessible roads, and the need for bursaries for bright and needy students' security of their families and health facilities nearby.
"The people of Eldas did not make a mistake in re-electing me for a fifth term as their MP, I am ready to ensure that there will be enough bursaries for students from needy families, more health centres and clean water near them to ensure that our people do not suffer any more," said Keynan.
The legislator who was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket said that he would not like to lead a divided constituency saying that he was ready to serve all the residents whether they elected him or not since he will be their leader until 2027 when they will make another choice of the leader they want.
Justice Stephen Riechi ruled that the election of Keynan as Eldas MP was carried out in accordance with the law with the irregularities cited by the petitioner Ahmed Arale who contested for the seat using the ODM Party ticket not affecting the final outcome of the election.
