It is a relief for the state following increased vaccine acceptance as Kenyans across the country embrace the Covid-19 jabs as is evident in the daily statistics.
The Ministry of Health administered some 201,745 Covid-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, 119,314 of them being fully vaccinated while 82, 431 others received their first jabs.
As a result, cumulative jabs given are now at 12,652,991 up from 12,451,246 doses as of yesterday. So far 21.1 per cent of the adult population is fully vaccinated.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe says that 6 million are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are around 5.7 million.
“The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 201,745 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 119,314. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 63.4 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 21.1 per cent,” Kagwe’s statement read.
The government aims at vaccinating almost 75 per cent of the population which translates to 27,246,033 out of the over 40 million populations.
The ministry’s daily statistics indicated that 119 more people tested positive for Covid-19 out of 4,808 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours. Positivity rate at 2.5 per cent.
Another group of 574 patients have recovered from the virus pushing the total recoveries to 295,433 of whom 242,891 are from home-based care and while 52,542 were from various health facilities countrywide.
Sadly, 6 patients succumbed to the virus, bringing fatalities to 5,593.
