The country has recorded 11 more Covid-19 related deaths pushing the total deaths to 5,499, as 90,000 Kenyans embrace the Covid-19 booster doses.

This comes at a time when 223 more people have tested positive for the disease out of 3,456 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is 6.5 per cent.

According to the Ministry of health CS Mutahi Kagwe, 11,096,104 doses have been administered; 6,204,659 are partially vaccinated while 4,770,760 are fully vaccinated.

“Another 30,351 are doses administered to those between 15 to 18 years while 90,334 are booster doses. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 17.5%. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033,” Kagwe’s statement read in part.

A Covid booster shot is an additional dose of a vaccine given after the protection provided by the original shot(s) has begun to decrease over time.

Similarly, 900 patients have recovered; 759 from the home-based isolation while 141 others were from various health facilities.

“Total recoveries now stand at 285,627 of whom 234,345 are from the home-based care program, while 51,282 are from various health facilities,” the ministry announced.

Nairobi still accounts for most cases after 133 more cases were reported in the last 24 hours, then followed distantly by Nyeri 21, as the other counties reported less than 10 new infections each.
