Today’s Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped from 20.8 per cent to 15.9 per cent in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says.
This was after another 1,105 people tested positive for the virus from 6,945 samples tested in the last 24hrs against 1, 034 new cases from 4,975 tests yesterday.
“Total confirmed positive cases are now 313, 677 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3, 111, 402,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.
However, another 8 patients have succumbed to the virus, pushing the death toll to 5,462.
Gladly, some 3, 220 patients have recovered from the virus, pushing the cumulative recoveries to 271, 893.
In terms of case distribution per county, Nairobi still leads in new infections after posting 262 new infections, Mombasa and Siaya 75, Kisumu 67, Uasin Gishu 62 and Laikipia 61 as others had less than 60 new infections in the last 24 hours.
On vaccination, some 10.6 million Kenyans have received at least a jab as of January 10.
Of these, the ministry says 6,077, 770 are partially vaccinated and 4, 533, 842 are those fully vaccinated. Additionally, 24, 697 doses have been administered to teenagers between 15 and 18 years and 59, 712 booster shots.
