Three people who travelled from Mombasa to Laikipia County on Saturday have self-isolated.
The three are a Chinese national and two Kenyans.
According to Laikipia County Health Chief Officer David Mugoi, the three construction workers managed to go through roadblocks because they are categorised under people offering essential services.
Dr Mugoi said it is the public that reported the three men to the authorities after they arrived at the construction site in Nanyuki town.
"We found 16 workers at the site, three of whom had travelled from Mombasa on Saturday," said Mugoi.
"We took the samples of the three, one of whom is a Chinese, and ordered them to self-quarantine."
Mugoi noted that the county administration also carried out tests on the other 13 people among them six Chinese who had arrived at the site 28 days ago.
None of them showed any sign of the virus. Mugoi said the county government has taken records of all the persons who had interacted with the three men.
He urged residents to report any persons travelling to the county from areas where travel bans were imposed. "We should not take chances simply because some people are offering essential services,"
