A nurse who went into a coma while on an Ebola eradication mission in Sierra Leone last year, has been awarded the Head of State Commendation.
This was during her burial in Luanda, Vihiga County, yesterday. Edith Dorothy Ong'onda was recognised for her bravery to go help salvage the situation in the Ebola hit nation.
Her family said it had no grudge against the Government in regard to her death and they had accepted her devotion to saving mankind.
"She was a lovely daughter who wanted the best for everyone. When she told us she had prepared all necessary documents and was heading to fight Ebola in Sierra Leone, no one could stop her," eulogised Japheth Ong'onda, her father.
