Jamaican artiste Dondeman impressed by Rasta community in Embu

Weeks after landing in the country, Jamaican dancehall singer Dondeman visited the Rasta community in Embu County and he was impressed by the look of things.

Speaking to TNX Dondeman who was in Embu over the weekend, says the community showed him love, support and appreciation of his work

“The Rasta community in Embu is really vibrant and strong. We had good vybes and love during the shoot which they all turned up for. They are hardworking and peace loving people whose warm welcome made me feel at home,” he states.

During the occasion, he shot his music video for the song Rastaman, a rendition of Joseph Hill, original song by the same singer.

“The video shoot was really cool. We shot it at Java in Embu town and I got massive support from the people around me. The good thing about technology is that I was able to assemble a good team who helped with camera work as I did the directing. The audio was done by Somi Records, a Kenyan producer and he did his magic with the vocals, after making the beat and I think people will love the song,” he added.

Like many foreign artistes who have been attracted by the aura in the country, Dondeman says he is also ready to settle and start business in Kenya. The African Girl singer who has been a regular visitor for the last two decades and has dome a number of collabos with Kenyan acts including Jua cali (Nachoma) Kimintah (African Girl) and Cynthia Boss Lady and Kevman in Nakupenda.

 “I have been coming to Kenya in the last 10 years so I know a bit how things work here. I also have a crew that I work with the likes of DJ Carlos and DJ Stenz and I think in future, I might get into hospitality or night club business. Kenya is like my second home now,” he says.

The singer says he has a number of shoots lined up as well as shows in several towns including Narok where he wil headline the Maa Jam concert which will feature a number of artistes including Kimintah, Papa Masai, Kamurar and other upcoming acts.
