All National schools will soon be required to use e-Citizen to pay school fees, Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has announced.
In a circular dated January 31, Kipsang said the move will ensure accountability in learning institutions
"The directorate of e-Citizen in partnership with the Information Communication Technology Authority (IOTA), Ministry of ICT and the National Treasury have been coordinating the onboarding of all government services onto the e-Citizen platform to enhance service delivery," read the circular.
"As part of compliance with the requirements it is directed that parents/guardians make fee payments for their learners in your institutions through this platform."
Principals are now required to provide the school's bank account details clearly stating the account name, bank's name, account number, bank code and branch code.
The details should be submitted by February 6.
This is the first time and the first government to implement such a directive.
It follows President William Ruto's directive to migrate all government services to e-Citizen.
