A disagreement between a man and his girlfriend over a cute kid on a famous TV programme has ended up in court.
This comes after the girlfriend, Joyce Wangithi, moved to court to have her boyfriend, Brian Ngugi, locked up for allegedly assaulting her in Nairobi’s Hunters area.
Police said Ngugi beat up Wangithi after she promised to give birth to a cute child like the one they were watching on TV.
According to the police, Ngugi who had come for a sleepover at his girlfriend’s house did not take kindly to Wangithi’s remarks.
Ngugi is said to have begun accusing the complainant of infidelity and stared yelling at her uncontrollably.
The court heard that Ngugi accused Wangithi of planning to get pregnant by another man. Wangithi’s attempts to calm her man are said to have made matters worse.
The court heard that Ngugi insulted Wangithi, picked a glass of wine and splashed the contents in her face and on her cloths.
Police said Ngugi also assaulted Wangithi before storming out of the house. She later reported the matter to police, leading to her boyfriend’s arrest.
Ngugi however denied the charges and was released on a Sh15,000 cash bail. The case will be heard on March 12.
