A man found himself in court for allegedly turning a Thika Road church into his private place of rest.
Ibrahim Odhiambo (pictured)allegedly broke into Deliverance Church on Thika Road with intent to commit a felony between January 15 and 16. The accused who was busted in the church around 2am claimed he had just entered the house of worship to rest.
Pastor George Kalawa told police he left the church locked, but later received a call from another preacher at rounding 2am that unknown people had broken into the church. The preacher who made the call allegedly lived near the church.
According to police, Pastor Kawala rushed to the scene on a boda boda and found the accused inside the church.
The accused reportedly was not responsive when asked to state his reasons for being in the church. According to the pastor, the church recently lost sound equipment valued at Sh120,000.
The suspect however denied the charge saying he was just resting.
He was released on cash bail of Sh30,000 and personal bond of Sh50,000. The case begins on March 26. - Pkemoi Ng’enoh
