The Ministry of Health plans to roll out an online home-based care programme to guide caregivers in the fight against Covid-19.
This as health officials commended the positive impact of home-based care in the fight against the pandemic.
During yesterday's Covid-19 briefing, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Mercy Mwangangi announced that out of 490 people who had recovered over the last 24 hours, 308 were being cared for at home.
The total number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered now stands at 15,100.
The country recorded 650 new positive cases out of the 6,768 samples tested, bringing the number to 28,754. Four people succumbed to the disease, raising the death toll to 460.
Dr Mwangangi said the ministry was planning to train caregivers on how best to safely take care of patients and themselves.
"We shall explore and see if we have an online module or format where you are able to see how to clean dishes, how you prepare 0.5 per cent JIK or how do you disinfect clothes, bed sheets and linens during the home-based care programme,” she said.
It has been two months since the country rolled out home-based isolation and care guidelines for Covid-19 patients to manage rising infection rates, and in anticipation of health care facilities being overwhelmed by the sick.
