Selena Gomez recently made headlines after being listed on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, with a net worth of $1.3 billion.

While honoured by this achievement, she prefers not to focus on the money.

“I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money," Gomez said during an interview at the New York Film Festival with Entertainment Tonight.

She credited her success to the fans of her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, stating, “They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true, so I’m really honoured and just happy.”

Rare Beauty, launched in 2020, played a significant role in propelling Gomez to billionaire status, with her beauty line accounting for over 80% of her wealth.

The brand became highly popular, especially among social media influencers. One of its standout products, the Rare Beauty Liquid Blush, sold millions of units, generating significant revenue.

In addition to its financial success, Rare Beauty is committed to social impact. According to Money Week, one per cent of all sales goes toward the Rare Impact Fund, which has raised over $7 million to improve access to mental health services.

Gomez has been open about her mental health struggles, which inspired the creation of Rare Beauty and its focus on mental well-being.

She co-founded Wondermind, a mental health platform, to continue promoting these causes. This emphasis on mental health is an essential part of her legacy, alongside her achievements in acting and music.

"The purpose of everything I do is to reach out and connect with people," she told The New York Times in a recent interview.
