One hundred people have recovered from the coronavirus, and another three succumbed to the disease.

The Health Ministry says sixty-three of the recoveries are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care while forty-six were discharged from various hospitals. The country’s total recoveries are now 114, 394.

The three deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, “one having occurred in the last 24 hours while two are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits within the last one month.”

This raises the Covid-19 death toll to 3,043.

An additional 659 people have tested positive for the disease today, from a 7,962 sample size conducted in the last day.

Kenya’s positivity rate now stands at 8.3 per cent, an increase from yesterday’s statistics.

The country now has 167, 535 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 1,771,236 cumulative tests conducted since March last year.

“1,049 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide. 4,568 patients are under the Home Based Isolation program. 111 patients are in the ICU, twenty-one of whom are on ventilator support and sixty-seven on supplemental oxygen. Twenty-three patients are under observation,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) added.

As at May 21, Kenya has vaccinated 951,026 persons, and looks to accept another consignment from DRC Congo, amid a looming vaccine shortage.
