The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards took place on October 8 at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub in Las Vegas, with stars from across generations gathering for hip-hop’s biggest night.

The event, hosted by New York legend Fat Joe, aired on BET and VH1 on October 15.

Megan Thee Stallion led the night with 12 nominations following the release of her self-titled album, her first independent project.

Kendrick Lamar, who has been at the centre of attention due to his recent feud with Drake, followed closely with 11 nominations, while Drake was up for eight awards.

Performers included 2 Chainz, GloRilla, Juicy J, Bossman Dlow, Trina, and Yung Miami. The ceremony also honoured Travis Scott with the prestigious I Am Hip Hop Award, recognising his decade-long influence on the genre, starting with his breakthrough album Days Before Rodeo.

Kendrick Lamar was named Hip Hop Artist of the Year, beating out nominees like 21 Savage, Cardi B, Drake, Future, and Megan Thee Stallion.

For Song of the Year, Kendrick Lamar won for “Not Like Us,” going up against tracks by Doja Cat, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, and others.

Nicki Minaj took home the award for Hip Hop Album of the Year with Pink Friday 2, which competed against albums by 21 Savage, GloRilla, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, and Travis Scott.

Kendrick Lamar also won Best Hip Hop Video for “Not Like Us,” while Sexyy Red was named Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist.

The award for Best Collaboration went to Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, and Future for their track “Like That.”

Future and Metro Boomin were named Best Duo or Group, while Missy Elliott won Best Live Performer.

Kendrick Lamar secured another victory as Lyricist of the Year, and he, along with Dave Free, also won Video Director of the Year.

Producer of the Year went to The Alchemist, who also won DJ of the Year.

In the Best Hip Hop Platform category, Club Shay Shay came out on top.

50 Cent won Hustler of the Year, while Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That” earned him Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse.

For the Impact Track category, Kendrick Lamar won again with “Not Like Us.”

Lastly, Best International Flow was awarded to Ghetts from the UK.
