Businessman Khalif Kairo has revealed that he is married to his partner, Maria Wavinya, just four months after they met.
In an interview with Mungai Eve, Kairo, who previously dated Cera Imani, explained his decision to marry Maria so quickly. He shared that after being in toxic relationships, he knew what he wanted in a partner.
"Technically, we are actually married,” said Kairo. “I think I have been in toxic relationships, so I know what I want. Once you mature and get to a certain mindset, you are like, look, you need to settle down. You need to start having babies as soon as possible.
He added: “We need to build our family. When you meet a woman who has a similar principal approach to life, once to settle down, wants to be a good wife, once to raise your children, una anguka nayo. You don’t have to waste time.”
Kairo said he treats relationships like business, where you grab a good opportunity when you see one. “We’ve been together for just four months, but when I see something good, I go for it. Some people date for years and never marry. For me, God made the connection, and I didn’t hesitate,” he added.
He also highlighted what attracted him to Maria—her simplicity and lack of interest in material things.
"What drew me to her is her simplicity. She’s not excited by cars or money. She cooks every day, and that’s the best feeling ever," Kairo said.
Maria, a commercial model, shared her thoughts on their swift marriage. She explained that she had decided two years ago not to waste time in relationships if they weren’t progressing.
"Being young doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not exposed. It’s gotten to a point where if we’ve dated for too long, you are practically wasting my time, like, why are we dating for two years? That’s why I decided I wanted to get married. I’ve studied and travelled, and now I’m ready,” she said.
While acknowledging that their relationship isn’t perfect, Maria said she is happy with her decision to marry Kairo.
"I’ve had bad experiences in the past. Someone once asked if I had a life before Kairo. If it’s about money, I’ve seen money, but I’m happy with where I am now," she added.
Despite being legally married, the couple has not held a large wedding and doesn’t plan to. Kairo explained that they prefer a modest approach.
"We’re thinking of doing something small, maybe on the beach. We’re happy with our decision. Maria brings so much light into my life," Kairo said.
