Our bodies are well-equipped at getting rid of harmful toxins. Your digestive system, liver, kidneys, skin, respiratory tract and lymphatic system are all tasked with removing these toxins from your body. 

Since we are constantly exposed to toxins, for example from chemicals used in growing our food, heavy metals, medication, even drinking water, it doesn’t hurt to give your body a little help as it cleans up your body. Certain foods have been known to enhance this natural detoxification, making you healthier.

For years, garlic has been known to be beneficial to the body. It has antibiotic, antiviral and antibacterial properties. It contains allicin, a chemical helps fight toxins and stimulates the production of white blood cells.

Ginger

Ginger contains antioxidants which improve your immune system. Additionally, ginger can help alleviate the symptoms of nausea, bloating and gas as well as help in digestion. Take some ginger to settle your stomach after eating fatty foods or drinking too much alcohol.

Lemons contain vitamin C which is an antioxidant and helps fight free radicals which can cause disease. It is also great for your skin.

Since lemons are alkaline, they can help regulate your body’s pH which is good for your immune system. Lemons have also been known to regulate blood pressure, protect liver function and stop damage caused by stress. 

Apples

Apart from being a healthy snack, apples contain a soluble fibre known as pectin. Pectin can help lower cholesterol, remove toxins from the bloodstream.
