Geoffrey Gitobu, who served as the Gichugu Constituency Returning Officer in the just concluded election, has died.
Gitobu collapsed today [Monday, August 22] outside IEBC offices in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.
At the time of his demise, sources told the Standard that he had taken three days off from his work station in Kirinyaga County to visit his family in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.
On Monday, Gitobu went to Nanyuki's IEBC offices to print some documents and it is here that he collapsed and was rushed to the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
At the time of publishing, the cause of death was yet to be established.
Kirinyaga County returning officer Jane Gitonga says Gitobu was expected back to his work station tomorrow, Wednesday, August 23.
