Celebrated KTN Friday Briefing News host Betty Kyallo is this year’s OLX Social Media Awards (Soma) Media Personality, an accolade that recognises and rewards brands that use social media to transform lives.
The TV beauty was among other media influencers and role models who carried the day during a glamorous ceremony held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Nairobi.
Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’i saw the Classic 105 breakfast show bagging the Radio Show of the Year vote, with The Trend winning the TV category.
Kenyan football international export Victor Wanyama took home the Sports Personality award while comedian Eric Omondi was gifted in the Entertainment Personality slot. Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi was recognised with an Alumni Award.
Other winners included Joe Muchiri (Instagram Personality), Joy Kendi (Fashion Personality), Michelle Nkatha (Entrepreneur) and Maggie Ireri (Corporate Executive Personality)
After her big win, a jubilant Betty thanked her fans for their support as she dedicated the award to her daughter Ivy, who had just turned three.
The celebrations went on till the next day as she took the party to Imani Children’s home in Kayole where she threw a bash for the less unfortunate children, that being Ivy’s birthday party.
“Together with my family, we decided to have the birthday celebrations here with the kids and this means so much to us,” Betty, who had been joined by friends during the all-day visit told MondayBlues.
