Police in Athi River are appealing to people who applied for certificates of good conduct to collect them.

According to Athi River OCPD Kizito Mutoro, thousands of Government documents are laying at the station after applicants failed to turn up to collect them.

"We are surprised why people apply for documents and later fail to collect them. We wonder what they use instead," said Mr Mutoro.

The police chief noted more than 5,000 documents had been left at the station and he fears they may be destroyed due to lack of space.

"I'm therefore appealing to those who applied for the certificates to pick them immediately so that we can get space to store the documents which have recently been applied for," he said.

Mutoro, who was accompanied by Joseph Mumira from the local criminal investigation branch, said some of the documents were applied for a year ago. "We have really tried to keep these documents safely, but it's now getting out of hand as they increase day-by-day," he said.
