Why your makeup doesn’t last all day

There is nothing more annoying than applying makeup and halfway through the day your face is back to factory settings. How about all the time you spent tirelessly following the step by step makeup tutorials you know by heart only for it to end with a dry and half smudged face?

In most cases, when your makeup fails to pass the test of day, there could be a number of mistakes you are making. Here are some of the reasons:

Applying the wrong foundation

A good number of ladies do not know their shade of foundation. They simply use what they feel is nearest to their skin shade. Sometimes they buy what sales people convince them is right.

It is important to not only know what foundation shade works for you but also whether your skin is oily, normal or dry. Foundation comes in different compositions for different skins and you should know your skin type and what foundation best suits your skin.

Missing the primer step

When applying makeup, whether it is a simple natural look or a full glam, it is very important to start with a primer.

A primer not only provides a clean canvas to apply makeup but it also helps your foundation stick for longer.

Also, a primer is good for your skin because it creates a thin layer between your skin and the makeup to protect it from damage.

Not using blotting papers

After applying makeup, you will need a blotting paper to tap off the excess oil produced by your foundation to help set your makeup all day.

Unfortunately, after applying makeup you will notice ladies using handkerchiefs and sponges to try and wipe off the oil which in the process rubs off the foundation. Unlike the wipes, sponges or handkerchiefs, blotting papers do not interfere or smudge your makeup.

Using old products

Most ladies do not know how long makeup products are supposed to last and this could be a problem when it comes to how effective they are after application.

Old makeup doesn’t work as efficiently as timely products, besides they may damage your skin.

Touching your face too much

It is easy to forget you have applied makeup and you will find yourself unconsciously touching, scratching on even leaning on your face and his could thin your makeup through the day. Before you realize it, your makeup will be smudged and looking half-done.

Tip: Always use a makeup fixer spray to set your makeup after application to help it stay intact for longer.
