Nigerian actress Ini Edo has dismissed rumours that she is preparing to get married, saying that marriage is not a priority for her now.

The speculation began in September 2024 when she posted a picture of herself in a traditional Efik bridal gown on social media, accompanied by a romantic message.

In the post, she wrote, “That bright Sunday morning 6 months ago while on vacation, we crossed paths and our lives never remained the same... 1 of 3 done. My fairytale wedding is almost here. To anyone who has given up on their happily ever after, love will find you."

However, in an interview with Premium Times, Ini Edo clarified that the post promoted her upcoming series My Fairytale Wedding and had no connection to her personal life.

“It was just a promotional post for the series, not an engagement announcement,” she said.

When asked about her views on marriage, she made it clear that it’s not something she’s focused on. “I’m not crazy about marriage; I’m crazy about having a solid relationship. It’s not something I’m hoping for or praying about,” she explained.

Ini Edo was previously married to Nigerian-American businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, but the marriage ended in divorce in 2014.

Their breakup was surrounded by controversy, with rumours circulating about the reasons for their split. Ini Edo later addressed the issue, stating, "I have not spoken to anyone about the breakup of my marriage, and I won’t. It’s my past, and it belongs there."

She further urged people to respect her privacy, saying, "I don’t care what people say or write about it; it’s their business. I won’t be giving any interviews about my private life. Please, let me be."
