Today let's make Swahili mchuzi wa nazi in beef strips.
Ingredients:
1/2 kg beef strips, boiled
1/2 cup cold water (for soaking)
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, sliced
2 teaspoons garlic mince
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
200ml coconut cream
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt to taste
Method
In a wok, drizzle the oil and fry the boiled beef until golden brown.
Remove from the oil and set aside.
In the same wok saute the onions until soft and add the garlic mince.
Mix well. Now add the spices and cook until fragrant.
Then add the tomatoes, cover, and cook for about five minutes, or until the tomatoes are soft.
Add the coconut cream, stir, and simmer.
Add the beef, salt, and lemon juice and cook until gravy is thick.
Serve with ugali and pili pili masala. Enjoy!
