Not having much luck in the love department? Here are our top 5 no-no's when it comes to online dating
Have you recently joined an online dating site? Attracting the wrong crowd or not having much luck?
Chances are you're doing something wrong – is your profile picture clear? Have you filled in the 'about me' section?
Here are five of the biggest mistakes people make when online dating – avoid these and you’re guaranteed a date.
1. Selfies and 'look at my bod' pics
Profiles with missing pictures look dodgy and are treated as suspicious.
'Look at my hot body' pictures may attract the wrong crowd - especially if you're looking for an actual relationship.
Likewise, too many selfies can make you look boring and self-absorbed.
2. Exaggerate/lying on your profile
Avoid lying on your profile at all costs.
Chances are, if you're caught, you'll be blocked from the site.
It's OK to leave the divorced question blank, but if you're asked about it, be honest.
3. Moving too fast
This is particularly common with guys on the web.
Allow at least a fortnight's worth of continuous messaging before suggesting to meet up, get their Facebook page or more.
4. Talking about money
When talking to a prospective match online, money should not come up at all.
If you are asked about anything personal or money-related - stay safe and treat the person as suspicious, if it continues, report them.
Likewise, continuous bragging about how loaded you are isn't cool.
5. Giving up too easily
If you sent a message and got no reply back - pick yourself up and try again.
There are thousands of singles on online dating sites and persistence will pay off so keep at it and don't prematurely give up.
