Dry skin is very common and maybe our lifestyle could be responsible for this.

We all want baby soft skin that glows with no acne or blackhead in sight. But, oh well, life is what it is and sometimes our skin just doesn’t want to cooperate.

With all the models showing off their flawless skin, you might end up feeling ugly but the truth is, makeup and filters are real so don’t stress yourself about it.

Dry skin is not only found on the face but can be in any part of the body. It may not be permanent but sometimes it might be a serious genetic issue.

We look at some of the things you need to know that could be responsible for your dry skin.

i.Dehydration

Water is responsible for hydrating our skin and making sure we get rid of harmful toxins. For that reason, you need to consume at least the recommended 8-10 glasses of water daily to ensure that both your body and skin are well hydrated.

If you don’t like the taste of plain water you can add a piece of lemon or berries to alter the taste.

ii.Not moisturizing

It’s important to moisturize your skin on a daily basis. Apply a generous amount of moisturizer all over your body after taking a shower. This will ensure that your skin is well moisturized and prevent development of any dry patches.

Remember to use a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type.

iii.Being exposed to extreme heat

Being exposed to high temperatures can cause your skin to get dry. In extremely hot conditions you end up losing a lot of moisture through sweating which can make your skin dry.

Make sure to use your sunscreen on a daily basis to prevent effects of your skin being exposed to too sun.

iv.Genetics

We all know that we inherit genetic traits from our family and dry skin might be one of those things we inherited. It’s important to establish if this is the cause of your dry skin or the dry patches you are experiencing. If you find out that some of your family members are exposed to this, then don’t worry about it. You can consult your dermatologist for a permanent solution.

v.Being exposed to harsh chemicals

No matter the marketing gimmicks some of these beauty companies push, not all products are good for your skin. Some contain harmful chemicals that can cause your skin to dry up. Make sure you read the ingredients in the products before purchasing. Before you buy anything find out if it indeed does what it says.

vi.Hard water

Hard water can prevent the absorption of moisture in the skin. Make sure to use a proper water softener which will filter out the components hardening the water which are responsible for drying out your skin. Most salty water is hard water so look out for this.
