A landlord has sued a man for burning his house after he disagreed with his girlfriend.

The accused, Erustus Munyoki Titus, is alleged to have committed the offence on June 18 at Ruai shopping centre.

The court heard that on the fateful day, Titus went to see his girlfriend at around 8am.

She was not in the house and one of the neighbours informed him that she had spent the night in another man’s house.

Angry, he rushed to the shop, bought paraffin, broke the door down and set the house on fire.

Neighbours who heard the commotion reported the matter to police who arrested Titus.

The house, belonging to Chris Kinyua Mukundi, was valued at Sh200,000.

Titus denied the charges and was set free on a Sh20,000 bail or surety bond of Sh50,000.

His trial was set to be heard on October 3.
