Here is the most simple Swahili beef also known as 'nyama ya kukanga' that you will whip up at home in no time. I simplified the recipe by using a pressure cooker and literally put almost everything in the mix.

Here is what you will need:

1kg T-bone steak, cut into chunks

1 tablespoon dry curry powder (Chefs Choice)

2 onions, sliced

3 garlic cloves

2 bouillon beef cubes (no need to add salt when using bouillon cubes)

2 tablespoons white vinegar

1 cup water

Juice of 3 limes

1 teaspoon garlic paste

1 teaspoon black pepper

What to do:

In a pressure cooker put in the meat, go in with the dry curry powder, add the onions, garlic cloves, crumble in the beef bouillon cubes, white vinegar and water.

Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes. Open the pressure cooker add a mix of lime juice, garlic paste and black pepper mix well.

Cook for another 5-10 minutes or until everything thickens up, and serve with your favourite basmati rice, pilipili ya kukanga and maziwa lala 'sour milk'

Enjoy vurunyaaa mwanangu.
