Jane Njeri Maina joins the list of women who made history and won elective posts in the recently concluded general elections. At 28 years old, Jane is the Kirinyaga County Woman Representative.
During her acceptance speech, she thanked her family and the entire county government of Kirinyaga for believing in her and supporting her political move that has borne fruit
"I say thank you to the people of Kirinyaga for voting me in. You've not only honoured me but my late father as well. He passed away believing that I can do anything if I set my mind to it. History has been made today as at my young age, I will be moving to Parliament to represent the needs of my people to the country," she said.
Born in Ndia, Njeri is an alumna of Kabare Girls High School. From Kabare Girls, she proceeded to the University of Nairobi Law School Campus at Parklands and later secured a place at A. Amadi advocates as a trainee.
She was later admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya by former Chief Justice Maraga after passing her bar exam.
She eventually founded her own law firm and has been part of the legal team at Young Lawyers Brigade.

She has done numerous pro-bono cases for widows in Kirinyaga, destitute families, and protected public land.
She has also sponsored needy students in high school as well as been actively involved in shaping the conversation around youth leadership and giving talks on national and international platforms.
While on her campaign trail, she was always quick to point out that she would fully cater to the marginalised in society.
"I will work to make the office of the woman representative more vibrant and make sure the kitty benefits the marginalised groups which include the youths, women, and persons with disabilities. I will also spearhead the interest of the farmers in Kirinyaga to ensure they get minimum guaranteed returns on their produce," she said.
