Children are often caught in the middle of parents' issues. But at the end of the day, they are innocent and that is something that cheating partners still recognize.
They might fight each other and seek something better outside their union but the bond they have with their kids is off-limits. Walking away might mean dismantling the family and their conscience can't allow that so they stay married eventually.
They don't want to tarnish their reputationWhen you get married, you receive a whole new identity. This new version of you is tied into your church life, your career, who people perceive you as in your neighbourhood and basically everything connected to you.
If people hear that you are a cheater when you are someone reputable, they lose respect for you. Everyone might find out that the reason why your marriage failed is that you were unfaithful and that story will stick in people's minds for a long time if not forever.
They know affairs are a temporary fixSide dishes might be full of that sexual excitement they are looking for but all that is a temporary high.
They still love to come home to hot meals just the way they like it, they love when their kids light up every time they play together and all those fulfilling aspects of family life.
Although they enjoy the seductive secrecy of affairs, it's never going to offer anything close to what family has to offer.
Staying married is cheaperThe financial convenience of staying married is a big reason why they stay. A cheating partner might understand the stress and financial implications of going through a divorce process, along with other big financial risks like child support payments so they would rather mess around and come back home.
