Every birthday is a blessing to be celebrated. And when you’re close to hitting 30, there is a different kind of excitement or dread.

30 is the age where you start to look at life differently and that’s why crossing over to the third floor is such a big deal. Now that you’re almost there, there are a few important lessons you need to know about.

With different pieces of advice being thrown at you, it’s hard to know which direction to take before it’s officially your 30th birthday.

For now, you can start with these five helpful pre-30 tips to help you get your life in order:

You don’t have to have all the answers and that’s okay

Turning 30 doesn’t mean that you are at the ultimate peak of wisdom. Your expectations might be that you need to have it all together and that can make you nervous when you should be preparing to celebrate your birthday.

The truth is, no one has all the answers. What you can do is to try your best to combine the lessons you’ve learnt in your 20’s and be open to learning more from others as you maneuver through life.

You should take care of your body

Getting older comes with many changes. Physically, you will start to see different transformations and if you’ve been eating healthy and exercising in your 20’s, you will be in a much healthier position.

But, if you’ve been putting healthy living at the back of your list, you will start seeing the results of your poor decisions in your 30’s when the kilos start to pile up, you’re heavier and can’t seem to lose weight as fast as you used to in your 20’s.

In case you’ve not been treating your body right, it’s the right time to hit the gym regularly and limit your junk food intake.

You must get your finances in order

Financial security should be at the top of your goals list as you turn 30. You need to start thinking about your retirement and other important areas that will ensure you’re sorted if you haven’t been doing that already.

Bad financial choices can haunt you for a long time so it’s best to work on how you can be more secure whether it’s applying for a stable job, finding a second source of income or clearing debt.

The bad habits need to go

There are those bad habits you might be doing right now that will soon be solidified into your character if you don’t decide to change. In your younger years you might have had room to enjoy yourself in a carefree way but now, you have to be more careful.

You should be working right now to kick out habits like partying too much, excessive drinking and poor time management so that you can have a better future.

Prince charming isn’t coming

Having unreasonable standards when it comes to dating has become the norm. Everybody wants their knight in shining armor to come sweep them off their feet but that’s far from reality.

If you’re planning on getting married and having children soon but you’ve been stuck in the hype of getting someone perfect, you should probably re-evaluate that.

Date more actively and focus on being with someone who is marriage minded otherwise the clock will continue clicking and you will miss your opportunity of settling down and getting children.
